This is supposed to be the last nice day for a few days, and the weather is supposed to drop 10 degrees tomorrow. John and I wanted to make the most of it, so headed out in dead calm seas to a little bay on the island of Ciovo to test anchoring and the windlass, as we had not used it before.
As soon as we were anchored and made sure the boat was stable, I was off on my paddle board exploring the coastline. The water was crystal clear along a rocky coastline with many sea cucumbers, sea urchins, and smaller fish swimming by. Along the way, there were many areas that had been turned into platforms in the rocks for sunbathers, with areas to jump into the ocean to cool off. I took advantage of the warm day, and had my first two swims in the Adriatic sea. It was a little cool – around 60 degrees, but not unbearable and very refreshing.
Paddled back to the boat and John took a turn. We then headed for another island and John did some fishing – he had bought fresh squid to use as bait at the fish market this morning. No luck. The Croatians are not sharing their fishing secrets with us, but we are watching and learning from a distance and trying to figure out their favorite spots.
