Robert meets us in the afternoon and we take the boat out to make sure that the problem is our sailing technique, and not the boat. It does not take long to establish that we have picked up some really bad sailing habits, and yes, the problem is “us”. It is a relief that nothing is wrong with the boat, but kind of embarrassing, the mistakes we were making…..

Probably the biggest one is being too casual about sailing and not paying enough attention to the rules of sailing. It is OK to be a little lax, when it is calm with little wind, but when conditions change rapidly, we are then not prepared for it!

John thought he would demonstrate it by posing for the photo. You cannot be the captain, sail, fish, sunbathe nude, exercise, eat and drink all at the same time and be a good sailor, especially when the wind suddenly picks up. Time to start following the rules.
