A day full of action. Go for a long paddle around the island to the next cove, where there is a crystal clear channel between Paxos and a smaller island, right on the south east corner of Paxos. I am the only one there, and it is so peaceful, with a beautiful little church on the one island, cicadas humming, a gentle breeze and water an incredible blue. I can see all the way to the bottom, which is white rock.
Paddle back to get John and snorkeling gear and we spend a couple of hours snorkeling in this wonderful channel. There are not large quantities of fish, but the ones that are there are colorful and not very shy, so am able to get quite close to them.
After lunch,we pack up the boat and sail across to Corfu. We start off at about 15 knots and by the time we get to the southern tip of Corfu, it is blowing at about 25 knots. It is wonderful to be sailing again as opposed to motoring. However, it is getting late and we still have at least another 20 miles to go to the marina in Corfu, so we reluctantly start up the engines again as we head towards the Marina. We pass Corfu town with his forts and old buildings at around 7:30pm and make it into the Marina at around 8:00pm in time for a lovely sunset and a full moon emerging.
