Crotone turns out to be quite charming, with almost no tourists, not even Italians. They are trying to attract tourism, and there is evidence everywhere that they have done a lot to clean up the city and have built more attractions. There is an old town area with an old castle. There are fish markets everywhere with the most astounding array of different sea foods, a lot of them being kept alive in tanks. The fishing industry is doing well here.
There is also a fruit and vegetable market, a few upscale delicatessens, restaurants and stores. We were pleasantly surprised and spent a lovely day here.
